Great Golf on the Melbourne Sandbelt presents an intimate, contemporary portrait of one of the world's greatest golfing regions — eight clubs, ten courses, and a stretch of sandy, fast-draining soil in Melbourne's southeast that has produced a concentration of world-class golf unmatched anywhere on the planet.

With the majority of images captured in 2026, acclaimed golf photographer Gary Lisbon documents the Sandbelt at the peak of its beauty and conditioning.
Never have these courses collectively looked as good — the product of over a decade of faithful restoration by a new generation of architects honouring the original visions of Alister MacKenzie, Alex Russell, C.H. Alison and their contemporaries.

The book features over 210 images, ground-level and aerial, spanning all ten courses: Royal Melbourne's East and West, Kingston Heath, Metropolitan, Victoria, Yarra Yarra, Commonwealth, Huntingdale, and Peninsula Kingswood's North and South.
Each is presented in full, capturing the distinctive character, strategic brilliance and natural beauty that have made the Sandbelt famous the world over.

Each club is accompanied by original artwork from illustrator Daniel Hille, whose clubhouse renderings and course maps add depth and context, while essays from respected club members offer a personal insight into what it means to call these places home.

A foreword by Geoff Ogilvy — major champion and product of the Sandbelt — sets the tone for a book that celebrates place as much as photography.
Great Golf Courses of the World is a sweeping portrait of the game at its most beautiful — over 100 courses across 20 countries, photographed by acclaimed golf photographer Gary Lisbon over two decades and six continents.

The collection gathers more than 400 images, many never before published, and casts its net wide: from the Northern Lights and midnight sun of Norway to the dry, firm links of the United Kingdom and Ireland. Australia's Melbourne Sandbelt appears in all its glory, alongside the contemporary drama of New Zealand's beachside courses.

Mainland Europe is represented through France, Spain, the Netherlands and Portugal, while Scandinavia shows its full beauty across Norway, Sweden and Denmark. South Africa and Mauritius capture the character of their region, and from Asia come the finest courses of South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and China.

Courses are grouped by region and country, each section opening with an informational essay and a location map — a structure that turns the book into a genuine journey rather than a catalogue. The panoramic format, unique to this collection, presents each image in its most striking form.

The result is a worldwide golfing journey taken from the comfort of your own home — the great courses of the world, gathered in a single volume, in the light that makes them worth seeing.

A foreword by Ian Baker-Finch - major champion and winner of multiple tournaments around the world - provides a world insight into many of the courses featured.
